This year we are once again looking to publish two issues of SBC Skateboard Magazine, and are currently accepting submissions.
Have you been hanging onto a skate photo you think is sick? Is there someone in your skate community who deserves to be celebrated? Do you have an opinion on Canadian skateboarding that you think is worth sharing? Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box when submitting content.
We are looking for unpublished original work regarding Canadian skateboarders in and outside of Canada. We invite submissions by diverse voices, including (but not limited to) those who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, Indigenous and or Neurodivergent peoples.
PHOTOS
We want to publish everything from traditional skate photos to those that venture into the abstract and artistic. The trick is only one part of what makes a skate photo rad—consider the location, lighting/shadows, vibe, and how your photo tells a story.
Submit low resolution (5MB or less) images. If there is space in one of our issues for your work, we will request higher resolution files.
STORIES
We want to publish stories about Canadian skateboarders or those who are integral to Canadian skate scenes and communities. Stories can involve skate shops, skateboarding organizations, important landmarks and spots, and skateboarding history. Stories can include interviews and personal experiences.
Submit stories of up to 750 words. Stories may be edited down or expanded upon throughout the drafting process with the Editor. All written submissions should be submitted as .doc or .docx files.
EXPRESSIONS & OPINIONS
We want to publish your hot takes, opinions, meditations, reflections, and abstract creations. Expressions can include poetry, stream of consciousness pieces, and/or graphic design.
All written submissions should be submitted as .doc or .docx files.
All submitted photos should include the first and last name of the photographer and featured skater(s), as well as the trick name.
All submitted written work should include the first and last name of the writer, as well as the article name.
All submitted content should be sent to [email protected].
