SBC Media announces today that Abby Cooper will be the first female to solely lead as editor of both print and digital editor of their flagship title, Snowboard Canada Magazine. Established industry photographer and writer, Abby Cooper will shift gears from the digital editor at SBC Skier to Snowboard Canada Magazine.
“I’m honored to be the first female in this role. SBC Media has always been progressive and supportive of female involvement in snow sports and I am excited to instil equal gender representation going forward as editor.” – Abby Cooper
Abby celebrates 23 years of snowboarding this season and ensures she is still madly in love with the sport. Growing
up in Calgary Alberta Abby Cooper frequented the snowy offerings of Banff weekly through her entire childhood. Snowboard culture shaped Abby’s friendships and professional pursuits from a young age. She attended university and obtained a bachelor’s degree in photography and advertising while living near Jackson Hole WY.
Over the last decade, Abby has crafted a career in the outdoor industry as an internationally published photographer and writer specializing in backcountry photoshoots and culture. She has shot signature industry brand imagery and has worked with many of the legendary athletes that have shaped snowboard culture as we know it.
Abby shares, “I’m thrilled to show off the roots of snowboarding, the up and comers, the mover and shakers of the industry and meet new souls living out the snowboarder’s dream. I strive to produce a well-rounded magazine that represented the snowboard community and culture.”
A dual sport-er herself, Abby spent the last year as the digital editor and associate print editor at SBC Skier Magazine. Abby looks forward to bringing her experience, connections, and passions into her new role at Snowboard Canada.
